چکیده

The recently proposed Cell-Free massive MIMO architecture is studied for the uplink. In contrast to previous works, joint detection is performed using global CSI. Therefore, we study strategies for transferring CSI to the CPU taking into account the fronthaul capacity which limits CSI quantization. Two strategies for pilot-based CSI acquisition are considered: estimate-andquantize and quantize-and-estimate. These are analysed using the Bussgang decomposition. For a given quantization constraint for the data and CSI the achievable rate per user with Zero-Forcing is determined. Numerical results show that quantize-and-estimate (the simpler strategy) is similar to or better than estimate-andquantize, especially for 1-bit resolution.

Optimal Design of Energy and Spectral Efficiency Tradeoff in One-Bit Massive MIMO Systems

This paper considers a single-cell massive multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) system equipped with a base station (BS) that uses one-bit quantization and investigates the energy efficiency (EE) and spectral efficiency (SE) trade-off. We first propose a new precoding scheme and downlink power allocation strategy that results in uplink-downlink SINR duality for one-bit MIMO systems. Taking into...

Throughput analysis of massive MIMO uplink with one-bit ADCs

Massive MIMO is a disruptive technology that consists of equipping communication transceivers with an excessive number of antennas to enable unprecedented gains in throughput and radiated energy efficiency. From an industry perspective, massive MIMO will happen only if the required large antenna arrays can be built out of low-cost (and, hence, low-precision) components. Therefore it is of inter...

Wireless MIMO Switching with Zero-forcing Relaying and Network-coded Relaying

A wireless relay with multiple antennas is called a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) switch if it maps its input links to its output links using “precode-and-forward.” Namely, the MIMO switch precodes the received signal vector in the uplink using some matrix for transmission in the downlink. This paper studies the scenario of K stations and a MIMO switch, which has full channel state info...

Multi-cell Massive MIMO Beamforming in Assuring QoS for Large Numbers of Users

Massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) uses a very large number of low-power transmit antennas to serve much smaller numbers of users. The most widely proposed type of massive MIMO transmit beamforming is zero-forcing, which is based on the right inverse of the overall MIMO channel matrix to force the inter-user interference to zero. The performance of massive MIMO is then analyzed based on th...

Wireless MIMO switching: distributed zero-forcing and MMSE relaying using network coding

In a switching problem, a one-to-one mapping from the inputs to the outputs is conducted according to a switch pattern, i.e., a permutation matrix. In this paper, we investigate a wireless switching problem, in which a group of single-antenna relays acts together as a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) switch to carry out distributed precode-and-forward. All users transmit simultaneously to ...
